A brave project which gains togetheter some of the most popular compositions by John Coltrane as Syeeda’s Song Flute, The Inch Worm, After The Rain made and other bits who he has made famous like Afro Blue, Say It and My Favorite Things.

Stefano Cantini on saxophones, Francesco Maccianti at piano, Ares Tavolazzi at dbass and Piero Borri at drums, they’ve played this work with a great passion for the music of Coltrane and for what this extraordinary musician has been in the history of jazz, an open challenge to celebrate a myth, that, as acclaimed and imitated jazz musicians from around the world, is often treated as a real taboo.

Musical languages distant both geographically and historically, as the forms of Indian music, African and Caribbean rhythms, the Greek modes and the complex harmonies of traditional “classical” European music, are merged into a homogeneous whole. The concert alternates meditative atmosphere, where the melody is full of mysticism, with moments of great driving force. The work group is a team effort between energy and poetry.

Un progetto coraggioso che raccoglie alcune tra le più amate composizioni di John Coltrane come, Syeeda’s Song Flute, The Inch Worm, After The Rain ed altre da lui rese celebri come Afro Blue, Say It e My Favourite Things .

Stefano Cantini ai sassofoni, Francesco Maccianti al pianoforte, Ares Tavolazzi al contrabbasso e Piero Borri alla batteria hanno svolto questo lavoro con un grande passione sia per la musica di Coltrane sia per quello che questo musicista straordinario ha rappresentato nella storia del Jazz, una sfida aperta per celebrare un mito, che, per quanto osannato e imitato dai jazzisti di tutto il mondo, viene trattato spesso come un vero e proprio tabù.

Linguaggi musicali distanti sia geograficamente che storicamente, come le forme della musica indiana , i ritmi africani e caraibici , i modi greci e le complesse armonie della tradizione “colta“ europea , sono fuse in un insieme omogeneo. Nel concerto si alternano atmosfere meditative, dove la melodia è carica di misticismo, a momenti di grande forza propulsiva. Il lavoro del gruppo è un intrigato gioco di squadra tra energia e poesia.
